The VIC East 2019

Since 1976 Victoria skimboards has been hosting the VIC World Championships at the famous Aliso Beach Park in Laguna Beach California. This is a high energy, and very spectator friendly event. People travel from all over the world to this one beach in Laguna to participate in one of, if not the most, prestigious contests in the world for skim boarding.

This year, Victoria Skimboards expanded their contest calendar to the East Coast of the United States. Specifically, Dewey Beach Delaware. Dewey is very well known in the skimboaridng community as on of the best East Coast Skimboarding destinations. The entire town is aware of the sport of skim boarding, and the locals have done a lot to grow the sport of skim boarding in the area.

The VIC East kicked off on the 1st day of June at 8am. The first day started with a lot of energy on the beach. Tex Haines, Victoria Skimboards Owner, said a few words to all of the competitors before the heats started. The wave conditions the competitors had to work with on day 1 were on the small side. All of the heats on day 1 were close, and really fun to watch. The competitors had to get creative with the conditions if they wanted to advance.

Dewey Beach held true to its reputation on Day 2. The competitors were greeted with much better conditions. Everyone on the beach was excited to get things going and take advantage of the great waves breaking on the beach. It was another day of high energy skimboarding and the spectators were loving the show.

After the last heats were threw and all the scores tallied up. The awards ceremony took place at the Big Chill Beach Restaurant.
