Johnny Atoe and Aidan Stevenson both won their division at the ZAP Amateur World Championships in Dewey Beach, Delaware. Congratulations to them! We are very happy to support such talents! Here is what Johnny had to say about the event…
Friday before the competition, we scored some very fun waves, 2-3 foot liners from right to left, peeling, warm, brown barrels, with a storm brewing to the north. After about 2 hours of solid skimming, the storm scared everyone off the beach until the next morning. The conditions both days of the contest were pretty rough, little to no swell, high tide, troughy throughout most of the day. Everyone was trying to make the most of the shin high waves, busting technical tricks all over the beach. Thanks to Jason Wilson and family for showing love, and an creating an awesome atmosphere for the skimboarding scene in Deleware. This contest brought me many new friends and memories I will remember for life. Thanks Victoria Skimboards for making awesome boards and for all the support and love. Lynn, Tex, and the Vic crew, couldn’t be more stoked to be a part of this skim family!
