>> Sunday morning dawned with overcast skies and epic conditions for the final day of the first annual TAC apparel Skim Blast in Santa Cruz, Ca.
Glassy conditions and a bump in the swell set the stage for the pro’s to get it going on the north side of the contest area. Morgan Just made it to the second day of competition but was ousted in one of the earlier heats of the day, leaving our amateur riders to battle it out in the Grom and Super Goon divisions. With onshore winds picking up and the tide starting to drain, the am’s were left with less than stellar conditions to finish off the competition. Max Bourne was just edged out of his semi final heat while Johnny Atoe advanced to the final in the Super Goon division. Johnny’s mix of power skimming and tech lead him to a second place podium spot, marking a year of only first and second place finishes for the San Diego native. Zac Henderson, coached by legend (and dad) Chris Henderson, held it down with a second place finish in the Grom division…
… And Tex Haines finished second in the Old Farts division giving Team Victoria a solid showing in Surf City.
