J.P.Garau’s yellow woody.
Check the tan VW Squareback parked on the ramp. The company truck way back then, and my wheels. J. Weber and I share the same birthday and the same passion for the slippery little car.
Sally not yet Peter Prietto’s wife, my partner in Victoria Skimboards. ,

Gregory Williams, Brother to Ray and Jay Williams, two of the most local skimboarders. Greg still lives up above Rockledge.
Unknown white hat
Unknown yellow hat.
A gal named Sue Haasl
Brady Norton judging. Still hits Victoria Beach almost daily. Lives in Laguna Canyon still, which is an achievement unto itself.
Wilma and Jack Williams, Mom and Dad to the brothers Williams .
David Kahanamoku, judging. Son of Bunny Kahanamoku, one of the Duke’s brothers. Hawaiian royalty to us. Hell of a surfer and skimmer. Took many trips to the Ranch with him in our little modified Wizard. One of the first fiberglass boats, given to me by my grandfather C.L. Haines Sr. an avid fisherman and general surgeon. David took me out to meet Grubby Clark to get our first foam sheet stock to make the first production foam core skimmers.
Massive credit to David, trouble maker that he was, he played a pivotal role in our sport. Surfing the Ranch with him, late in afternoon, rainy and dark, pumping 8’ rights. I am getting caught by the foam ball, wave after wave, a sound change like a train passes you and you are exploded into the void, to bounce gently on the velvety shale reefs. David makes every wave, riding high, pumping easily to stay ahead of the white hammer.
Stevie and Stewie’s mom.
Guy seated with straw hat is Dirk Pratley, aka Vavity, for his massive food intake velocity. Also a dedicated body whomper, and water photog with his Nikonos.
He flees OC and the madness to settle on the Colorado River as a guide with Arizona River Adventures Co. AZRA His dad, the local geologist said the big one is imminent,
and turned us all onto a wealth of great jazz and music.
Further away with the fro is one of the original crew, his brother was Lynn Buxton, who I first saw doing radical flips and bashes with his skidboard when I was 11.
At the far right edge you can make out a tripod and a camera shooting. Could be Guy Westgaard.
Anybody else recognize anyone let me know and I will add them in.
