PREMIER SKIM LEAGUE CONTEST AT ALISO

The Premier Skim West Coast Tour started this past Saturday down at Aliso Beach. This is the first of three stops that will be taking place in California. We woke up to cloudy and rainy weather, with high hopes that the contest was set around a low tide. Upon arrival the conditions were looking promising and since it was gloomy we had an entire event day with little to no wind. Pro riders Jon Howell, Johnny Salta, and Kelly Sobol made an appearance. As well as amateur riders Paul Carey, Reef Ravazza, and Koa Ravazza.

The day started with the Professional category, in what most would call prime Aliso conditions. Salta and Howell battled it out in a Semi-Final heat, ultimately ending in a tie with Salta taking the advantage with next highest wave score. Salta had a tough final against Timmy Gamboa, although his performance still earned him a runner up finish.

Our amateurs showed off their skills all the way to the finals. Paul Carey had a tight battle with Colton Ettwein, completing his run with a first place finish! We credit Pauls great wave selection and smooth clean barrel riding. Reef Ravazza was on the tear winning every heat he skimmed and earning himself a first-place finish! Koa Ravazza was runner up in the 10 and under division also earning himself an opportunity to challenge himself in the 13 and under division.

Big thanks to Clay Powell and Premier skim for hosting these events. They are a big opportunity for the local skim communities to gather and spread the stoke of Skim. Also big thanks to Trey Skim Steezy for the live stream to be able to tune into. Don’t miss out on the rest of the tour which takes place in Santa Cruz July 19thand wraps up in San Diego October 11th. Want to catch more outside of the Premier contests? Look for your local skim club that hosts monthly meet ups to strengthen your skills and have a fun group skim session! Premierskim.com
