When it is a little windy elsewhere, Treasure Island offers some wind protection due to the high cliffs near the shore. So that is where this Saturday session was held, some fun ones came through! Future top professional skimboarder Paul Carey enters a surf competition in San Clemente, CA on one of the very few Victoria Surfboards, shaped by Tex Haines. It was a pretty amazing moment to witness and that's why Tex was present to support Paul and captured a few photos.
A couple of hours before this Saturday Session, there was a King High tide, followed by a very quick drop to a very low tide. There was a short window where the tide was right and offered some fun rides for the session and even some siders on set waves.
The first stop of the @unitedskimtour was one for the history books. We consider ourselves very lucky to have such a talented group of riders throughout all divisions. It was a gift to see our local Melaque riders @brianlopezmlq (1st) and @tulemelaque (4th) display their talent and place their way into the top 4. Right after one of the biggest North West swell we have seen in decades, the beach held up on the north end, offering nice rides on this second Saturday Session of 2023. Beau Johnston and Jon Howell scored some very nice rides. The creek water was freezing cold! Here are some pics taken by Tex.
